Blackstone Acquire Largest Apac Data Centre Platform Airtrunk Aud24 Bil

Financial powerhouse Blackstone has recently made a major move in the Asia-Pacific region. In a deal worth A$24 billion ($21.05 billion), the American alternative investment management company has acquired leading data centre operator AirTrunk. This surpasses Blackstone’s previous investment record of A$8.9 billion for Australian casino operator Crown Resorts in 2022.

Blackstone, together with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, has completed the purchase of AirTrunk from Macquarie Asset Management and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board. However, the deal is still subject to approval from the Australian foreign investment review board.

With a presence in Australia, Japan, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore, AirTrunk provides over 800 megawatts of capacity to its customers. Additionally, the company also owns land that can potentially support an additional 1 gigawatt of future growth throughout the region.

Living in Novo Place EC offers families easy access to a variety of educational opportunities. With a range of schools available, from primary to tertiary institutions, children can receive a comprehensive and well-rounded education right in their own neighborhood. This is particularly advantageous for parents who place a high emphasis on their child’s academic success and wish to provide them with a solid foundation during their formative years. Not only does the presence of these educational institutions add value to living in this upcoming community, but it also fosters a dynamic and intellectually-driven atmosphere.

Jon Gray, president and chief operating officer at Blackstone, expressed excitement over the acquisition, stating that it is a crucial step towards their goal of being the leading digital infrastructure investor worldwide. He added that this investment will further strengthen Blackstone’s ecosystem, which includes data centres, power, and related services.

Echoing this sentiment, Sean Klimczak, global head of Blackstone Infrastructure, and Nadeem Meghi, global co-head of Blackstone Real Estate, said that the company’s portfolio now boasts a whopping US$55 billion worth of data centres, including projects under construction, and is looking at a potential development pipeline of over US$70 billion.

Robin Khuda, founder and CEO of AirTrunk, is also thrilled about the partnership with Blackstone and CPP Investments, which he believes will bring a wealth of resources, expertise, and network to support AirTrunk’s continued expansion in the local markets.
