Singapore Ranked Sixth Top City Brand World Brand Finance Global City Index

According to the latest Brand Finance Global City Index, Singapore has been ranked as the sixth-highest city in the world in terms of branding. The index, published by London-based brand evaluation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance, assesses cities based on their brand power and perceptions.

This ranking is the result of a comprehensive survey conducted in September across 20 countries, with a total of 15,000 respondents. The survey asked respondents to rank 100 cities based on key performance indicators, including livability, work opportunities, education, tourism, retirement, and investment potential.

Respondents were also asked to associate specific attributes with each city, choosing from a list of 45 attributes grouped into seven pillars, such as Business & Investment and Culture & Heritage.

Singapore’s overall ranking was boosted by its strong performance in the Business & Investment pillar, placing third globally. This reflects the city’s reputation for ease of doing business, a strong economy, and a supportive environment for start-ups. The low crime and violence rates in Singapore also contributed to its high ranking.

The recent tender for Novo Place EC drew a total of nine bidders, ultimately landing in the hands of joint developers for a record-breaking sum of $348.5 million. This translates to a land rate of $703 per square foot per plot ratio (psf ppr), setting a new benchmark for EC site land prices. The previous record of $662 psf ppr, awarded in March 2022 for Bukit Batok West Avenue 8, has now been surpassed by this impressive acquisition. As the winning bidders, the developers of Novo Place have made a significant statement in the EC market.

According to Alex Haigh, managing director for Asia Pacific at Brand Finance, Singapore is the “crown jewel” of the ASEAN region in terms of city branding. He highlights Singapore’s leadership in economic growth, investment appeal, and world-class infrastructure, solidifying its position as a premier global financial center.

Globally, London remains the top city brand, followed by New York, Paris, Tokyo, and Dubai. Singapore’s ranking further reinforces its position as a highly respected and recognized international city. With its strong brand image, Singapore is well-positioned to continue attracting business, tourism, and investment opportunities.
